Lorne MacInnes elected to United Van Lines Canada board of directors

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Lorne MacInnes, owner of Ferguson Moving & Storage, has been elected to the board of directors of United Van Lines Canada on april 15th 2010 at the national shareholders convention.

Ferguson Moving & Storage is a proud member of Mayflower Canada which is a division of United Van Lines Canada.

As a board member, Lorne MacInnes will be focusing on the long distance business of all the share holders of the nations greatest van line members.

The most unique aspect of UVL United Van Lines and Mayflower Canada Ltd is that they are not owned by USA conglomerants. The Van lines are run by the members. The members are shareholders and the shareholders elect their own board members to guide the policies of the members.

United Van Lines Canada has had many challenges due to the economic downturn of 2008 and 2009. However, the member community is built on a solid foundation and most of the members are 3rd, 4th and sometimes 5th generation family owned companies.

What does that all mean to our customers? In short, it means that our member community is solid and strong. It means that our customers can count on the fact that we are not going away. It means that they can continue to put their trust in a Van line that is over 5 decades old to care for and deliver on their promises for decades to come.

Ferguson’s Visits Scobey Moving & Storage in San Antonio Texas

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009
Every year Ferguson Moving & Storage Vice President Lorne MacInnes attends a national conference for Mayflower Van Lines. Each year it is held in a different and unique location. This year’s convention was held in San Antonio Texas. The purpose of the convention is to provide a platform for all members from Canada a chance to come together. During the convention, there are many activities such as golf, skeet shooting and in this case, visiting the infamous Alamo. In addition to fun activities, there is also a tremendous amount of networking; exchanging leads and sharing information that will help all members run a better service for our customers. A new addition to the conference schedule is to visit a Mayflower member every year in the host city that we visit. For this trip we had the privilege of being treated to an open house at Scobey Moving & Storage. The President James French and his Operations Manager Mike Garcia were kind enough to take time out of their day to take us on a tour of the facility and spend some time on the proud history of Scobey’s and reminisce on years gone by. Also, James shared his vision for the future of the industry. James really knows his stuff. He’s been passionately involved in the Moving and Storage industry for the past 43 years. In addition, Scobey’s itself is a household name in San Antonio since beginning operations way back in 1913!  For more information on Scobey Moving & Storage, please visit their website at www.scobeymoving.com
