Experienced Vancouver Hotel Installers

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Ferguson moving and storage meticulously performs furniture installations for hotels, restaurants, theaters and other Vancouver venues.

Ferguson has been in business since 1916, we have been performing installation services for major venues since 2001.

Our services are customized to meet your demands for new construction projects or renovations. Ferguson’s staff will do what it takes to satisfy the needs of the most demanding jobs.

We will ensure that you are 100% satisfied with our services.

The Ferguson project team work very closely with other project managers and partners and our knowledge has proven to be sensual in preventing challenges with logistics and design issues.

For example in it to her of a construction site one of our managers noticed that the amount of hardware for assembling artwork would be inadequate compared to the amount of artwork that needed to be installed. This was important because the hardware was customized in a factory and shipping in large quantities required a two week waiting period. Since it was discovered, there was still six weeks until that hardware was required thus a potential delay was avoided. In another example or project manager was reviewing floor plans when he noticed there was a conflict between two floor plans for the hotel lobby. The designer was unavailable and the hotel was opening the next day. Our manager was asked to simply do the best he could setting up an entire lobby which included over 100 pieces of furniture.

When the designer of the Fairmont Pacific rim in Vancouver came to view the lobby she liked it so much she ordered it to stay that way. In another example our client had ordered artwork which had a light box to illuminate the artwork. The original team from the artwork company performed substandard installations and was terminated from the project. Our project managers were asked if we could take over the installation process of this complex artwork installation.

In the end, our teams installed over 400 hotel rooms including artwork, TVs, beds, headboards, nightstands, safes, hangers, refrigerators, mini bars, dressers, audio units, iPod docking stations and a complete pick and pack for everything from stir sticks, scales, coffeemakers, bathrobes and linens.

Ferguson moving and storage was awarded an install of 400 hotel rooms for the Fairmont Pacific rim located in Downtown Vancouver. The entire job was bid out for a nine week install thus lots of time was allowed to receive furniture from all manufacturers into our warehouse for inventory, sorting and staging.

Because of many construction delays during the Vancouver Olympics the owners of the building asked if we could perform 24-hour services with separate staff to avoid overtime fees as much as possible.

Our HR department hired additional crews with high skill levels to assist existing crews to help complete the job on time and on budget.

Working as a team our managers participated in morning conference calls with purchasers and managers of the Fairmont to complete the project before the opening ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics.

This was extremely important so that registered guests of the Olympics including Arnold Schwarzenegger and dignitaries from countries around the world would not have to be turned away. We feel that our hands-on approach can help all people involved in major hotel construction and renovations.

Our crews perform turnkey installations, artwork and mirror installations.

Ferguson’s Visits Scobey Moving & Storage in San Antonio Texas

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009
Every year Ferguson Moving & Storage Vice President Lorne MacInnes attends a national conference for Mayflower Van Lines. Each year it is held in a different and unique location. This year’s convention was held in San Antonio Texas. The purpose of the convention is to provide a platform for all members from Canada a chance to come together. During the convention, there are many activities such as golf, skeet shooting and in this case, visiting the infamous Alamo. In addition to fun activities, there is also a tremendous amount of networking; exchanging leads and sharing information that will help all members run a better service for our customers. A new addition to the conference schedule is to visit a Mayflower member every year in the host city that we visit. For this trip we had the privilege of being treated to an open house at Scobey Moving & Storage. The President James French and his Operations Manager Mike Garcia were kind enough to take time out of their day to take us on a tour of the facility and spend some time on the proud history of Scobey’s and reminisce on years gone by. Also, James shared his vision for the future of the industry. James really knows his stuff. He’s been passionately involved in the Moving and Storage industry for the past 43 years. In addition, Scobey’s itself is a household name in San Antonio since beginning operations way back in 1913!  For more information on Scobey Moving & Storage, please visit their website at www.scobeymoving.com
